Description

Feline herpesvirus, also known as viral rhinobronchitis, is widely present worldwide and only one serotype has been identified. However, its virulence varies between virus strains.

Feline herpesvirus replicates in the conjunctiva and epithelial cells of the upper airways as well as in neuronal cells, and neurogenic infection results in lifelong latent infection.

The main method of acquiring antibodies to herpes is vaccination, and each cat receives different levels of antibodies.

The higher the concentration of antibodies, the less likely it is to be infected with the herpes virus, so it is still necessary to test the concentration of antibodies in the cat.
